Our sheep provide us with the very fabric our ancestors relied on to keep warm, dry and cosy. Today it’s hard to find this versatile gem without synthetic plastics added, or “fortified” with chemicals.

Join us for an afternoon and step back in time. Learn some of the old techniques, and find out how you can enjoy the beauty and qualities of a truly natural material.

What you’ll try

  • Prepping a fleece — sheep, llama and even rabbit fur (just the fur, not the skin!)
  • Cleaning and carding
  • Combing
  • Weaving
  • Felting

All abilities welcome — no experience needed. Please note this afternoon is for ages 13 and up, as we’ll be working with machinery.

Make a day of it

There’s a preserving morning at the barn from 11am–1pm the same day — book one or both.
