Alex Hall makes jewellery from the things the rest of us throw away. Sea glass, clock parts, sewing notions, broken vintage pieces — fragments saved from landfill and given, in her words, “a whole new life ahead.” Her passion began around 2014, after a silversmithing course at Hillsborough College in Sheffield, and what keeps her going is the problem-solving: finding the potential hiding in each unwanted piece.
At Under A Topaz Sky, fine embroidery meets found objects — the unwanted and unloved reborn as unique, bespoke handcrafted jewellery. Because no two fragments are ever alike, no two pieces are either: every one is genuinely one of a kind.
Alex works from Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire — just over the bridge — and brings her latest finds and creations to the market.
